Toy Wish List

TnT are starting to outgrow their toys. They are still playing with infant toys…not for very long but they still play with them. I think they are getting bored with what they have.

I’ve been on the hunt for some new toys. Specifically, some that will promote learning and development for their age. One of my favorite brands is Melissa & Doug. The girls only have a couple of their toys but they are toys that they love and play with a lot!

They got the Bug Jug Fill & Spill as a gift and I wasn’t sure if it would be something they would play with but that thing has been one of their most played with toys. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen this picture of the spider that mysteriously crawled into the game drawer. ;)

photo (9)

They also have a couple of wooden knob puzzles. They haven’t quite grasped the concept of the puzzles yet but they love to carry around the pieces. I’ve been working with them by telling them what the picture is on the puzzle piece and a couple of times they have matched them up.

We have some plastic dishes that they pull out almost every time they are in their play area (which makes mommy happy because they can work on their self feeding with utensils skills). I’ve been thinking they need some play food to go along with them.  Any of these play food sets would be perfect!

Tillie is my girly girl so I bet she’d love this Pretty Purse Spill & Fill. Although they might fight over the cell phone. Haha!

Both girls are good at throwing/rolling balls and also knocking things down so I bet they would love this Bowling Set.

I could go on and on with these toys. They are all just so cute and always catch my eye when I see them in a store. I did notice when I was browsing their site that they are offering FREE SHIPPING right now. I might take advantage of it and start working on the girls’ Christmas presents!

Cleaning Tip: Pinned & Tested

So I mentioned yesterday that I cleaned my entire house. Rooms get cleaned but rarely does the whole house get cleaned all in one day. Maybe like once or twice a year.

Anyway, I pinned this pin and when the motivation and energy came along, I decided to give it a go. Instead of doing the steps through the whole house, I did one room at a time. I might try doing each step through the entire house next time.

I actually started on Monday by going through the entire house and picking up everything that was out of place. It pretty much took me the entire day because well, I have twins. Enough said.

On Tuesday I dug into the nitty gritty. I followed the steps from the post above. I started in the kitchen…cleaning it while the girls ate breakfast.

After they finished breakfast, I moved them to their play area and while they played I cleaned the dining room and living room…dusting and vacuuming. I even moved the furniture and vacuumed! For some reason, these two rooms always seem to take the longest. Even with everything picked up but I think it’s because these rooms require the most as far as dusting.

After I was done with the living and dining room, it was nap time. I put both girls down for their nap and started in on their bathroom. I emptied the trash & took the rugs & towels to the laundry room (I also grabbed the rugs from the master bath and went ahead and threw them in the washer so they’d be done by the time I was finished cleaning). I then wiped down the tub, toilet and counters, swept the floor then mopped my way out (with my Shark steam mop, of course!).

Tillie refused to sleep so I had to go get her mid way through cleaning the bathroom but she is good about playing and staying out of trouble.

I moved on to our bedroom. Changed the sheets and dusted the furniture. I decided to wait on the vacuuming and do the room and our bathroom at the same time.

Our bathroom took a little longer than I had wanted. Mainly because I had to scrub the hairspray off the counter. (Note to self: find an easier way to remove hairspray residue). Once I was done with the bathroom, I vacuumed then mopped the bathroom.

Tensley woke up after I finished our room & bathroom so I got her up and we all had lunch. After lunch I tackled their room.

In the girls room there is not much furniture. It’s a small room. I wiped down their beds (what was I thinking getting dark cribs? They show every little finger print & drool spot), dusted off their bookshelf and the changing table. Next I cleaned out their air purifier and then I moved their furniture and vacuumed.

I started this process around 9am and finished around 2pm so it took about 5 hours to clean the kitchen, dining room, living room, 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. Keep in mind I also had 2 toddlers to care for while I did this. I’m pretty sure I could cut this time in half otherwise.

We do have another room, my craft room, a laundry room, home office/mud room and a man cave upstairs that I didn’t clean. The craft room doesn’t get used these days and is currently a catchall room so that’s a project for another day. I had cleaned, swept and mopped our laundry room and mud room just a few days before so they didn’t require any attention.

And the man cave? It also doesn’t get used much these days and is totally out of site since it’s above the garage and off of the mud room so I don’t worry so much about it. I’m sure it’s pretty dusty up there but it’s not something I can clean unless someone is here to watch the girls. I’m sure it wouldn’t take me long to clean…probably about 30 minutes but I just don’t wanna. ;)

So all in all, I’d say that this system works pretty well. The KEY is definitely to have the house picked up first.

Wednesday Randoms

*I got my entire house clean yesterday. It feels so good to not have to worry about what I need to clean today. I would almost be willing to work a couple of hours a week just to pay someone to do it for me. But then I know that money would probably just end up going toward something else…like a babysitter.

*I need to get into the kitchen and do some bulk cooking. Also need to put together the ingredients I bought to make various pre-made mixes.

*'I’ve had a little burst of activity in my Etsy shop. It’s nice b/c we could definitely use the money. I’m hoping to do a giveaway soon.

Here’s an invite I did for my nephew’s birthday.

*There are now two experienced toddling toddlers running around in our house. They’re not too fast for me just quite yet…thank goodness.

*Everyone announcing their pregnancies is making me think about round 2. I think I’m ready. That first year was tough but I keep telling myself it’s just because I was a first time mom. I’ll be better the second time around, right?

*I am SO glad the girls are into a shoe size that makes it easy to find shoes. I scored some cute clearance shoes for them last week.
photo (9)

*Looking forward to a long weekend. We’re having a little cookout for family. I need to figure out some sides and desserts to have.

*TnT are on different nap schedules lately. So far it hasn’t been too bad. Tensley is still needing 2 naps but I think Tillie would never sleep if we didn’t make her. She’s like her momma that way. It’s kind of nice though because I get some one on one time with them. It’s bad because I’m not able to get much done.

Happy Wednesday!

Menu Monday: Week 6

It’s a good thing I already had this week’s menu planned out because I’m getting a little burned out when it comes to food lately. I think it’s because I’m having trouble keeping my stock pile stocked due to the fact that my local grocery stores haven’t had many good sales lately.

If you’ve posted your meal plan this week, I’m having a link up so link us up to your post so we can all get some new meal ideas!

This week we seem to be having a lot of beef.

  • Monday:  Lasagna / Green Beans
  • Tuesday:  Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken / Broc/Cauli medley / MacNCheese
  • Wednesday:  Cheeseburger Mac / Peas
  • Thursday:  Taco Soup / Cheese quesadillas
  • Friday:  Spaghetti / Green Beans
  • Saturday:  Beef Enchiladas / Rice / Black Beans
  • Sunday:  Pizza

If you’re like me, you like to have pictures of food before you try it. I’ve been trying to get better about taking pictures of the meals I make.

Chili Dogs (from last week’s menu)

  • All Beef Hot Dogs
  • Hot Dog Buns
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 tbs cumin
  • Salt & Pepper

Brown ground beef with onion, chili powder, cumin and salt & pepper. Once browned, add tomato sauce. Stir and cover. Let simmer.

While chili is simmering, cook hot dogs on stove until warmed.

For steamed buns, place buns in a microwave dish, cover and heat on high for about 45 seconds.

Serve with all of your favorite hot dog fixins.

I wanna be

I wanna be the woman who is the perfect cook.

I wanna be the woman who is eloquent in writing and in her speech.

I wanna be the woman who always has time for her children.

I wanna be the woman who never neglects her husband.

I wanna be the woman who people can rely on in times of need.

I wanna be the woman who is a good manager with her time and money.

I wanna be the woman that never complains about her children…her husband.

I wanna be the woman who looks flawless every time she leaves the house.

I wanna be the woman whose house is clean and tidy almost all the time.

I wanna be the woman who throws the perfect party.

I wanna be the woman who can run a booming business while taking care of her house and her children.

I wanna be the woman who never complains about how bad or stressful her day was.

I wanna be the woman who fears the Lord with all her heart.

I wanna be a Proverbs 31 woman.

Though I strive to be these women, I will never be all of them and sometimes none of them.

I am who I am and am doing the best I can.

Wednesday Rambles

A heart at peace gives life to the body…  -Proverbs 14:30

*That verse really spoke to me this morning. It can apply to so many life situations.

*The mornings are getting cooler now. Now if we could just have our days cool down. Just a little bit though. I have this fear that we are going to go from extreme heat to extreme cold and I’ll be stuck in this house with the toddlers forever! Ha!

*I can’t believe August is almost over. Before we know it, it’s going to be Christmas. Guess I should start planning now.

*We’re trying out the Dave Ramsey envelope system again. I have a love/hate relationship with trying to live on a budget so we’ll see how it goes. Now if I can just figure out how to budget my time so I can be a SAHM, WAHM and still get sleep.

*I expanded the girls’ confined area in hopes that it would encourage Tillie to start walking more. It seemed to have worked. They now have access to the play area, living room and front entry. I tried letting them have access to the kitchen and dining room but they started to divide and conquer and it wasn’t working while I was having to do things in the kitchen. We sometimes open it up when both of us are home.

*I asked on Twitter yesterday but I thought I’d ask here too…I’m wanting to get the girls some more toys. I tried to play with them yesterday and in looking around, they have quite a few toys but they don’t have many that they can manipulate I think they’re just too old for most of the toys they have. So if you have any favorites for 12-18 months, let me know!

*Everyone has been talking about football lately. I’m excited for it to start up too but haven’t really had a chance to think about it. Guess I better hurry up and get the girls some Sooner gear. :)

*I need to do some house cleaning but I’m just not feeling it today. I think I will do some laundry though.

*I haven’t done yoga in over a week now. I’m feeling it too. I don’t know if I got bored or what but I need to get back to it!

*I’ve had the urge to rearrange all of our furniture but I am very limited on where I can put things so I think maybe I’ll just focus on the walls.

*Speaking of walls, I’ve designed a couple of prints for the girls play area. Maybe I’ll share them soon.

Pinterest Fashion

I love the idea of dressing up. And by dressing up, I mean wearing something other than yoga pants and a tank top. I don’t however, love shopping for things to “dress up” in. I like to shop but when I do actually have the money and time to shop, I can never find anything that looks good on me.

Pinterest has changed this for me. I love scrolling through and pinning things that I like and that I think might work for my body type. Occasionally, when I’m trying to choose an outfit from my closet, I’ll consult my “Things I’d Wear” board to see if I have anything that will help me put together an outfit. It also helps me figure out if there are any pieces that I might be missing and need to add to my must have list.

Here are some of my recent favorites…

I have the grey t-shirt, skinny jeans and some purple ballet flats. I have a silver necklace that would work but I’m thinking I might need a purple bead necklace to have more pop of color.

I have a black polka dot shirt and a red cardigan sweater. I’ve been looking forever for some cute red heals but I bet my black & white polka dot Steve Madden heels would look just as good. ;)

I love the pop of lime green with the scarf in this outfit. With Fall/Winter coming (hopefully), I clearly need to add to my scarf collection. I also love cardis but I have trouble with them being belted…maybe I need to buy them shorter in length. I think my hips are just too big…especially after birthing twins!

So have you figured out my style yet? I’m a little plain jane but love to dress up a little with a scarf or shoes!

Menu Monday

Did everyone have a good weekend? Ours was pretty uneventful. Well, except for Saturday when I made my grocery/couponing stops…it rained hard pretty much the whole time I was gone. And then it stopped right as I got home. Grr!

The fried rice that I made last week turned out SO good and it was so easy to make. This is one Pinterest recipe I recommend.
photo (9)

If you follow me on Pinterest, I pin recipes to my Recipe board and then once I’ve made it and decide to add it to my keep list, I move the recipe to my specific recipe boards like Chicken Recipes or Beef Recipes, etc.

Once again we had leftovers so some of the meals on last week’s menu have made it onto this week’s menu.

  • Monday – Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs / Fried Rice (I planned to use the leftover from last week but we ate it all so I’m making a new batch of just fried rice sans chicken)
  • TuesdayBaked Tacos (A new pinterest recipe I’m going to try.)
  • Wednesday – Bacon Ranch Chicken / Peas (freezer meal)
  • Thursday – Loaded Baked Potatoes
  • Friday – Chicken Quesadillas / Queso (Gasp! No pizza night! I like to change things up a bit.)
  • Saturday – Hot Dogs w/Homemade Chili / Fritos
  • Sunday – Crockpot BBQ Chicken / Sweet Potatoes / Baked Beans

Loaded baked potatoes are one of my favorite meals. I was introduced to them several years ago when I attended a scrapbook crop that catered them in for dinner. I usually use Lloyd’s BBQ brisket because I can get it cheap with a sale and coupon but this time I’m going to make the brisket myself in the crockpot.

Loaded Baked Potatoes

  • Large Baker Potatoes (one for each person)
  • BBQ Brisket – I use either Lloyd’s or I make it myself
  • All your favorite baked potato fixins (sour cream, butter, cheese, chives)

Step 1: Cook/bake potatoes either in crockpot, oven or microwave (depending on how much time you have)

Step 2:  Heat up or make your brisket

Step 3:  Load potato with your favorite fixins then top with BBQ brisket.

Step 4:  Enjoy!

If I make the brisket myself I just put it in the crockpot with a little liquid smoke, salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder and then top with BBQ sauce and cook on low for about 4-6 hours. You can also do the same in the oven but just wrap it in foil and bake at 300 degrees.

I need to start trying out some dessert recipes, huh?

Chic Twin Girl Nursery

I’m re-posting pictures of the girl's’ nursery from this post.
I am also linking up with our Multi Mommas blog where this week’s topic is ‘Show Us Your Nursery!" You don’t have to be a twin/multiple momma to join this week so we hope you link up!
As soon as we found out we were pregnant, and then found out we were having twins, I COULD. NOT. WAIT. to get started on the nursery. Convinced we were having a boy and a girl, I had a really hard time trying to decide what kind of nursery to do. I was really drawn to a woodland theme because I felt it was pretty neutral.
I had looked at pre-made sets and couldn’t really find what I wanted so I decided to go custom made. Thankfully, the girls’ Nana Connie is a seamstress. We went to look at fabric and I took pictures of the collections that I liked. I picked out girly, boyish, and neutral collections. I have to admit though, I was drawn to the girly stuff much more than the others.
Imagine my excitement when we found out we were having TWO girls. All bets were off. I was going COMPLETELY girly! Poor James. When I picked out stuff, like the chandelier, he looked at me like I was crazy but he eventually got on board. ;)

Wednesday Rambles

*Today has been rough. The girls have been keeping me up late or waking up in the middle of the night or both staying up late and waking up in the middle of the night this week. Saying I’m a little tired would be an understatement. I’m not sure why they are conspiring against me. Could be teeth. Could be bad dreams. Who knows.

*The weather people keep telling us it’s going to rain but then it doesn’t. We have a chance for the next 3 days so hopefully we actually get some. Except I’d prefer it takes a break on Friday morning because I have to actually leave the house for Tillie’s PT.

*Speaking of Tillie’s PT, yes, she’s still going for her torticollis. Sister is getting to the point to where she doesn’t want to be touched and she has developed this blood curling scream that will pierce right through you. Her therapist says she’s use to it and it’s pretty normal behavior for this age. She’s almost better, like she only has 5% rotation in her neck so chica needs to start cooperating so we can be done with PT.

*Tillie is doing great with her helmet. Her head is looking really good. I’m pretty sure she’s going through a growth spurt right now so when we go in 2 weeks to get a scan of her head to get measurements they’ll tell us that we are almost done! We’ll have at least one more appointment after that 3 weeks later.
photo 1

*I’m still working on the details post for the girls’ 1st birthday party (yes, I realize it was over a month ago). It’s taking me a while because I’m working on getting the printables that I used for the party ready to reveal the same day as the post. I’ve added to and tweaked the set a little bit. An advantage to actually using my designs before I put them in the shop. ;) I expect to have it all done within the next week.

*I’m also still working on getting info together to offer sponsorships here on the blog. If you’re interested, email me.

*And just because I try to keep things equal around here, here’s a pic of Tensley. Why do they keep growing?! Make it stop!

It’s Learning Time!

The girls seem to be bored lately. I blame the heat. It’s just too hot to go outside…or anywhere really. Just getting the 3 of us in and out of the car makes me a hot & sweaty mess.

photo (9)
We have this area gated off for them. It’s their entire play area (full of toys) and it comes into the living room where we have their bean bag chairs where they watch TV sometimes. It’s just easier for us. Chasing 2 babies when I’m alone is too much…especially when they tend to get into something they’re not supposed to in different parts of the house at the same time.

Every day I get in their little space and try to play with them or read books. It may last for a couple of minutes but then they just start to fight over me and if I can’t resolve it, I leave and they usually go back to playing.

When I play with them I talk about what I’m doing and say the names of the objects. Reading to them is nearly impossible because one or both of them will snatch the book away and take off before I can even read the first page but I keep trying.

I’ve been worrying lately that they have not reached some of the milestones they probably should. They don’t seem to be saying too many words. They’re not really saying momma or dada. They babble plenty but I have not noticed many (if any) words.

In discussing my concerns with James, I remembered pinning a couple of sites that had learning activities for children of all ages so I went in search of some inspiration.

After researching and going through the girls toys and books, I decided that we would work on colors this week. The girls love this little alligator bouncy ball thing so I started with that and then I grabbed all of their books that were about colors.

photo 2

The little alligator, or whatever it is, when turned on bounces the balls and plays music.

I started by lining up the balls in front of the alligator and then picked up each ball, said what color it was and then put it in the alligator. When I had gone through all of the balls, I turned it on for a little reward of sorts. As the balls bounced and came out through his mouth, I would say the color of the ball as the girls picked them up. After we did this a couple of times I moved on to the books.

A couple of those books are simple. They will have one page where the entire page is a color with the name of the color and then the page next to it is a page of items that are that color. I would hold up the page so both could see and then asked them to pick up the ball that matched the color on the page.

I did these two things 3 times; during their first play time, after their morning nap and then after dinner. The first day of their color lessons didn’t go quite as expected (they would grab the balls and throw them or walk off and start to play with something else) but they did show a little interest in what I was doing by the third time. I plan on working on this for a week so hopefully, they will make some progress by the end of the week.

For something a little more fun, I got the idea of taking them on a house tour of our house. The instructions I found suggested setting them on a blanket and pull them around on that but I wasn’t sure it would work since I have two toddlers. I could just see them falling over on each other with each turn and then the drama that would ensue. Instead, I used a large laundry basket, looped a blanket through one of the handles and used that as a way to pull them around the house (so I wouldn’t break my back bending over pushing them around). They “boarded” the basket just outside their bean bag area and then I pulled them around from room to room telling them what room we were in and the purpose of the room. They. Loved. It!
photo 1

Since I’m just starting this, I’m gathering all the ideas I can so if you have any activities that you do/did with your kids (around age 13-14 months), I'd love to hear!

Menu Monday

How was your weekend? Are you ready to tackle the week ahead?

Since I plan 2 weeks at a time, I already had this menu ready last week. However, I’m tweaking it just a little bit because I didn’t plan so well this go round.

So here’s our menu for this week:

  • Monday – Healthy Baked Chicken Nuggets/MacNCheese/Green Beans (I had to switch mashed potatoes for MacNChesse b/c my potatoes shriveled up :(  We also ended up having taco salad the night I scheduled to have this b/c I needed to use the salad before it went bad)
  • Tuesday – Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes / Chips
  • Wednesday - Chicken Fried Rice
  • Thursday – Lasagna Roll-ups (inspired by this pin but I’m using my own lasagna recipe) / Green Beans
  • Friday – Pizza night (either leftover takeout that we froze or homemade BBQ Chicken Pizza)
  • Saturday – Burritos / Freezer Black Beans / Chips & Queso
  • Sunday – Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs / leftover chicken fried rice from Wednesday

Unfortunately, I don’t really have any recipes to share this week because most of this weeks’ menu is taken from Pinterest. Haha! I previously blogged about the Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes so you can click on it and it will take you to the recipe.

For the lasagna roll-ups I make my own sauce and use cottage cheese instead of mozzarella. For my sauce I just use ground beef, crushed tomatoes and Italian seasonings/spices.

I haven’t any coupons or good sales for dinner rolls lately so I plan on making a couple of batches of these rolls and freezing them to have with meals. If we like them, I may never buy rolls again!

With the cost of groceries going up, I’m still seriously contemplating making more things from scratch and staying away from buying pre-packaged foods. I’ve been doing some research and scouring the web for recipes so I’ll keep you updated on what I find.

Poor Me or Whatever

Does this happen to anyone else or just me?

I started my day at 7am when everyone else was asleep. I had my quiet time, I picked up the girls’ play area, cleaned the kitchen and swept & mopped the floors in the kitchen, laundry room and mud room/home office and started some laundry. I even had breakfast in the oven.

Then. Everyone woke up.

Suddenly, my sink was full of dishes and breakfast and splatters of milk were all over the kitchen floor. Then after that, the dog puked in the living room on the carpet. Lovely. Why do I even try to clean my house?

Our first attempt at naptime was a big fat fail.

I made lunch & dirtied up my kitchen once again.

Second attempt at naptime. Success. So I thought. Tens woke up after only 45 minutes. Ugh. How do you moms with one baby/toddler handle it? Seriously? I didn’t get much done since I was watching/entertaining her. I did keep her busy for a short time with a snack, a fresh filled sippy cup and Mickey Mouse Club House.

photo (5)

Then Tillie woke up. Hallelujah. We’ll just skip the part where Tens is throwing dog food out of the dog bowl and Tillie unplugged my power cord from my laptop and had it in her mouth while I was trying to get Tens out of the dog food.

Now it’s time for dinner.

Anyway, around late afternoon/early evening something happens to me…pretty much every day. I’m not sure what is causing it but I am constantly dropping things or forgetting that I’ve started something or trying to put things where they don’t go. I trip over things, run into things, kick things with my feet. Seriously. Seriously?

Is this exhaustion? The fact that I feel overwhelmed at times? My thyroid is out of whack and causing me to go cray cray?

Or, is this normal for a mom…or maybe just a SAHM? Do these things happen to you?

My Top 5 Pics of TnT

So we were a little late on our Multi Mommas post. Better late than never, right?

This week’s topic is 'Share Your Top 5 Pictures of Your Twins or Multiples. This one was hard for me since I’ve taken like 4000 pictures of the girls since they were born. I have them somewhat organized but I need to tidy up all the files a bit.

Ok, let’s get started.

Number 1

Proud Papa
This is by far my #1 pic. I wasn’t present for this moment but I’m so glad it was captured. I pretty much tear up every time I see it.

Number 2

1 Week old
This one is when we were finally able to bring Tillie home. Check out that little grin on her face. She was happy to finally be with her sissy. :) They were a week old here.

Number 3

12 days old
12 Days old. They got along so well here and were actually happy to be near each other. They were almost always touching somehow…even it it was with just a foot. Now? Not so much. :(

Number 4

4 Months
This is when TnT were 4 months old. This picture for some reason has always stuck out to me when I think about pictures taken of them.

Number 5

1 Year pic
This was from an impromptu photo shoot I decided to do one day shortly before their 1st birthday. Several of the pictures turned out so cute that I decided to get at least one on canvas to hang in our living room above the TV.

Be sure to head over to Multi Mommas and link up your Top 5 pics! We can’t wait to see all the cuties!

*I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already! I guess I kind of lost a day yesterday due to the fact that I didn’t go to sleep until 6am yesterday thanks to Miss Tillie who decided it was time to party as soon as my head hit the pillow Monday night. Sleep deprivation is real y’all!

*I’ve been on a mission to get us on a budget. I’ve been trying to cut costs and save money but we’ve never really stuck to a budget all that well. Anyone have any good resources? Other than Dave Ramsey because we’ve been there done that.

*The girls turned 13 months yesterday. What?! I still haven’t done their 1 year update. (adding that to my to do list for tomorrow).

*When I got up this morning it was 75 degrees outside so I decided I would load up the girls and to to the park to walk. By the time I got to the park it was 79 degrees but I thought, “ok, still not bad”. WRONG! I was DYING by the end of that 1.5 mile track! There was absolutely no breeze. It was just too hot. I’ll try again when it’s in the 60’s.

*I get to see my BFF two days in a row starting tomorrow! She lives like 20 minutes from me but I haven’t seen her since May. Sad, I know.

*I wish you could pin pictures on Instagram. Can you?

*I’ve been doing yoga for 3 weeks now. I haven’t really lost much weight but I can tell I’ve had a little bit of change in my body. When I get my flexibility back, I plan on starting some cardio and/or strength training. I just can’t believe how out of shape my body is…especially since having the girls….THAT really did a number on my body.

*I can’t stop thinking about these cookies over at DutchessofFork. I may have to make them soon. She also posted a picture of Frito Salad that I am craving so that may be lunch tomorrow.

*I think I’m finally caught up on design orders. I have one in the works so if you’re having a party any time soon and want some printable goodies, let me know!

*Tomorrow is a new link up over at Multi Mommas. This week’s topic is your top 5 favorite pictures of your multiples. Can’t wait to see all the cuties!

Hope you all had a good hump day! Only 2 more days until the weekend!

Menu Monday

My grocery stock pile is just about down to nothing so I had to make a big, expensive grocery trip this week. I need my local grocery stores to have some really good sales really soon.

Speaking of expensive groceries, I’ve been thinking lately how people think it’s expensive to eat healthy. I have also thought that too….until recently. Last Friday, I spent $15 on produce. This may sound like a lot but I now have a fridge full of fruits and veggies. I even had to cut up some of it up and put it in the freezer. The rest of the items I purchased were the processed, not so healthy items that I get to go along with our entrée’s. Get this, I spent about $160 on all of that stuff…and I used coupons! So this has got me thinking about making my own “packaged” items. I’ve seen a lot of stuff on Pinterest on how to make your own “pre-packaged” goods so I’m going to try it out. I mean, if I can make a batch of brownie mix for around $0.25, why wouldn’t I make it myself?! Plus, it wouldn’t have all that hydrogenated oil and other ingredients you can’t pronounce. Thus, making it a little cleaner and in some cases, healthier (ok, not so much healthy brownies but definitely the other stuff) ;)

Ok so here’s this week’s menu:

  • Monday – Chicken Enchilada Casserole / Salad (I made a double batch 2 weeks ago and froze it)
  • Tuesday – Tortilla Stack / Corn
  • Wednesday – Bacon Ranch Chicken / Peas
  • Thursday – Healthy Baked Chicken Nuggets / Mashed Potatoes / Green Beans
  • Friday – Pizza Night!
  • Saturday – Beef Stroganoff / Peas
  • Sunday – Taco Salad

We had Indian Tacos last night for my Dad’s birthday and they were delicious! Tasted just like the ones you can get at the State Fair….actually, they were better!

Today I’m making another batch of Black Beans and per James’s request, more granola bars. I also might make a batch of homemade rolls using this recipe if I have time.

Tortilla Stack

  • 1 lb ground hamburger meat
  • Chopped onion
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • Corn Tortillas
  • Shredded cheddar (or mexi blend cheese)
  • 1 small can chopped green chilies (optional)
  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder (can add more to taste)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Cumin (can add more to taste)
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown hamburger meat and onions. Add chili powder, salt & pepper to taste. Add tomato sauce and and green chilies. Let simmer for about 5-10 minutes.

In a lightly greased square glass baking dish, layer corn tortillas, hamburger mixture and cheese. Repeat until all hamburger mixture is gone (Top layer should end with the cheese).

Place in preheated oven and heat until cheese is melted (about 15-20 minutes)

I usually serve with shredded lettuce, picante and sour cream on top. I also serve with corn, mexi corn and/or corn chips.

This next recipe is one of my favorite crock pot recipes. It’s so easy and has been a hit with everyone who’s tried it.

Bacon Ranch Chicken

  • 2 Chicken Breasts
  • 2 Tbsp Bacon Bits
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Pkg Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 1 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 C. Sour Cream
  • Egg Noodles

Place chicken in crock pot (even if frozen!). Mix remaining ingredients (except egg noodles) and pour over chicken. Cook on low for 6-8 hours.

Shred chicken and put back in crockpot on low. Cook egg noodles and stir into chicken mixture.

Serve with veggie/side of your choice. I usually serve with peas.

I’m always on the lookout for new recipes to try so if you have a favorite, leave me a comment!

Look Who’s Walking!

When Tillie decides to do something, she does it!

Last night she was sitting on one of their balls just bouncing away. Then, suddenly, she just popped up and started walking! She’s been taking steps here and there but never more than 2-4 steps. However, she tends to get a little excited if she’s walking toward something and her upper body gets ahead of her feet.

I showed her how she can walk with her little piano walker and let me tell you, I got tired turning her around a million times so she could walk (she hasn’t figured out how to turn around yet).

Could you hear Tensley cheering her on in the background? Open-mouthed smile

FMBM: Baby Showers

I’m linking up with our FMBM blog about baby showers! I had this post done a little late and then I forgot to post it so now it’s a lot late! I am so glad we decided to do Baby Showers because I don’t think I ever did a post on mine and now I can document it for the girls. :)

Be sure to head over to FMBM to link up your baby shower and check out everyone else’s.

I was fortunate enough to have 3 baby showers. The first shower was my work shower. I came in to work and found the door to my office was shut and no one was in site. To my surprise everyone was INSIDE MY OFFICE! It was totally decorated and full of baby goodness.

One of my coworker’s wives made this adorable cake.

And can we talk about these gifts?! Everyone was so generous!

I also had a shower hosted by my church. Sadly, I didn’t get but a couple of pictures but look at this cake. I love that they thought to put 2 babies on it. :)

My biggest shower was hosted by my sister and my best friend. They did the décor to go along with the nursery décor and it turned out so cute!

I was literally so overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. Once I got everything home I was even more so when I was trying to figure out where to put everything!

Be sure to check out Jennifer, Amanda, and all the other MoM’s baby showers over at FMBM.
