Prayers for Our Girls

On Mother’s Day, we did baby dedication at our church. If you don’t know what it is, it’s basically introducing the girls to our church and then making a promise that we will raise them in a Christian home.

For the baby dedication, the Mom is presented a rose for each child and then the children/babies are presented their first bible and given a letter from the pastor to open on their 12th birthday. Our pastor also tells us the Christian meaning of their name and then gives them a life verse.

Tillie’s name is a German name that means, ‘Noble Lady’ and the spiritual connotation is, ‘Beloved’.
The life verse he gave her is 3 John 2

Dear friend, I pray that you may prosper in every way and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.

Tensley’s name is an English name and means, ‘Fortified Field’ and the spiritual connotation is, ‘Security’.
Her life verse is Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by His vast strength.

Along with all of this, they also received a prayer quilt from our prayer quilt ministry called, Karring Quilters. I love this ministry. Basically, some ladies in our church make these quilts and sew ribbons on them for people to tie a not in the ribbon representing a prayer they have said for that person.

On the girls’ quilts is a tag that has been sewn on and their names have been added. This is what the quilt says…

This quilt was especially made for the dedication to the Lord of {their name}

This quilt was made as an expression of Jesus’ love for little children. Each knot tied represents the prayers of the Emmaus Fellowship asking God’s love and strength for you as parents to be successful in

bringing your child up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6.4

The girls’ quilts were left at the church for 2 weeks after the baby dedication to allow church members to pray for the girls. I am very thankful to those who prayed for my baby girls.
