October 31, 2011

There have been a couple of things that haven’t been working for me lately so I’ve decided it’s time to do something about it.

Issue #1:  Overweight & Outta Shape
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying on some of my pre-pregnancy clothes and They. Are. Not. Fitting! Currently, I am 6 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight but I’d like to lose 10-15 more. Of course my body isn’t the same after having twins and it may never be as it was before but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to try.

What’s changing?
My workouts. James and I are starting back on P90 today…as soon as he gets home from work. We started it once several weeks ago (you might have seen me post about it on Twitter or Facebook…it was quite funny) but we didn’t quite have the girls on a schedule yet so it was hard to work out consistently. I might also continue walking at the park with the girls…weather permitting.

Issue #2:  Fussy Babies
For the last few days, the girls seem to be getting sleepy/fussy earlier than their current schedule. This makes for a stressful evening.

What’s changing?
I’ve decided to move their bath time up to 7:30pm in hopes to get them in bed no later than 9pm.

Issue #3: No Time to Work
I have re-opened my Etsy shops with the intention to make make a little extra money to play with (and to support the girls formula habit) but I have not had the time I would like to dedicate to it without interruption. I have also been wanting to start taking clients for photography but first want to get a site up and running to view proofs, etc.

What’s changing?
With the girls being in bed by 9pm (Issue #2), I am going to try to work on shop stuff from 9pm – midnight. The house will be quiet during this time (and James will be in bed) and I can work without interruption.

P.S. I debated posting a before picture of me but I’m not sure I’m quite ready to do that yet….maybe later. Winking smile

Fashion Friday: Casual Day

I’ve been pinning looks on Pintrest lately. Since I’m not working now, I need to start replacing my business casual wardrobe to well, just plain casual. I love wearing jeans but am currently sporting yoga pants on a daily basis because I can’t fit into the many pairs of jeans in my closet. I believe I have jeans from size 4 all the way up to size 12 :-/

While pinning, this set caught my eye…I think it was the red shoes.I have most of the elements to this look (except the red shoes…I really need to get some, STAT) but I don’t really have the body right now to pull it off. (hello hips that spread to accommodate two babies!). Maybe someday…..  ::sigh::

Tummy Time

Someone, who doesn’t care for tummy time, decided she was going to roll over onto her tummy yesterday.

Once she realized what she had done, she threw herself a little fit until mommy rescued her. She seems to be a slow learner because she did it again today. :D

Bits of Fall

Well, it’s officially Fall so I decided I should do a little decorating to make the transition from Summer to Fall a little easier (colder temps DO NOT appeal to me. Not. At. All.) I don’t really go all out…going over the top means you have a lot to unpack, put out and then have to turn around and pack it up again. I’m lazy that way. :D

Hmmm…I need to get some candles for those candle sticks in that last picture.

I usually go all out for Christmas but haven’t in the last couple of years. We’ll see what happens this year. :)

Three Months

Wow, the girls are 3 months now! In the beginning, time seemed to be moving so slowly (maybe it was the sleep deprivation) but now it’s starting to fly by.

They are changing so fast. Their legs are now going non-stop…kick, kick, kick. All. The. Time. It’s cute but makes it hard to do things like change their diapers and put on pants or socks.

They’re starting to grab things like their blankets…..my hair….their hair but not really toys yet.

They both have been sucking on their fingers and sometimes prefer them over their pacis.

They’ve recently started laughing, like really laughing…it’s so cute.

They’re getting so long that I’ve had to move them from the baby tub to the regular tub.

They haven’t been officially weighed recently but they probably weigh around 13-14 pounds.

They both can sit in the Bumbo seats for a short time. Tensley does a little better than Tillie.

For the most part, they are sleeping through the night.

Tensley is definitely my drama queen. She can throw a fit like no one else. And if you don’t act quickly, you are in trouble mister!

She is also the most entertaining one. When she’s having good days, she will talk your ear off.

She’s a daddy’s girl. He can pick her up and within just a few minutes she’ll be out like a light…she likes to snuggle.

She doesn’t care for tummy time but will stand on your legs when you’re holding her. I think she might skip crawling and go straight to walking.

She sucks on her two middle fingers if she doesn’t have her paci.

She’s cold natured like her momma.

She still loves bath time. She talks through the whole process.

When she’s tired or when she’s eating, she has started this thing where she grabs her ears or her hair.

She doesn’t care for naps but when she does she will sleep for 3-4 hours. At night, she sleeps around 6 hours.

Tillie is still the more laid back one. She will just sit back and watch/observe her surroundings.

She doesn’t like when her sister cries. Although, there has been a time or two when I have actually seen her laugh at her sissy’s fits.

She likes to talk but not near as much as her sister.

She’s kind of a momma’s girl but doesn’t like to be held for too long…she’s not much for snuggling.

Her legs are always going…more so than her sister’s.

Tummy time is quite a work out for her. She constantly raises her head and tries to roll over. When I finally “rescue” her, she’s totally out of breath from working so hard. :)

She’s a thumb sucker.

She tends to be hot natured like her daddy.

She still loves bath time…she smiles and kicks the whole time.

She doesn’t care for naps. She only naps for about 10-15 minutes at a time but at night, she will sleep 8+ hours. I think she’s like her momma….she’s afraid she’ll miss something if she sleeps. :)

Fashion Friday

Shopping…..it’s something I love to do….especially when I have no money, lol. Now that I am a SAHM, there’s not a lot of room in our budget for frequent and extravagant shopping trips :(  I am constantly browsing online at Etsy and other places and I also spend some time pinning looks on Pintrest. So, to get my shopping fix, I think I’m going to start doing a weekly post called Fashion Friday (If I can’t spend the money, maybe you can!). If you have any suggestions or anything you are looking for, let me know and I’ll try to see if I can come up with a look just for you!

Next week, I am going to start out with baby fashion!

Mommy Dilemma: No Nap Babies

I am at my wits end. I need some mommy advice…..

My dilemma:  neither one of the girls will take good naps…unless we are out running errands, then they sleep the whole time. I can’t keep leaving the house because my house is turning into a pig sty (not to mention how exhausting it is to get the three of us ready to leave the house and then be gone all day). And….I would like to re-open my Etsy shop and maybe start taking clients for my photography biz. However, every time I’ve tried to put them down for a nap so I can get something done, at least one of them screams. So, if the other one is asleep or falling asleep, it wakes her up. I feel like I’ve tried everything. Even when they do fall asleep it’s only for about 10-15 minutes.

Do you have this problem? Did you have this problem with young babies?

October 10, 2011

My mom brain has been in full force lately so I can’t ever thing of blog topics. So, I hereby give you some random thoughts/updates. If there is anything you’d like me to blog about, let me know. I’m open to suggestions.

The girls turned 3 months on Friday! I can’t believe how fast it’s gone. I’ll have a 3 month update soon.

It rained here all weekend. I’m over it. Bring the sunshine back, please.

I started walking with the girls on Friday. There’s a park just up the road from us and it has a 1.5 mile track. That little jaunt just about killed me! I figured it up and with the girls in their carriers in the stroller, the stroller weighs at least 55-60 lbs. You wouldn’t think that is that bad but this track has some small inclines and it was crazy windy that day so imagine pushing 60 lbs up inclines and against the wind. My booty was so sore! Anyway, I went back and walked again on Saturday…alone this time…and before the rain arrived. Now I’m hooked and ready to go again…hopefully later this morning. I need to loose the last 5 lbs of baby weight….and would like to lose another 10 lbs after that!

Had a GNO (girls night out) with my BFF Saturday night. It was the first time in….well, I can’t even remember our last GNO. It was quite a while before the girls arrived even (I think). We had fun chatting & catching up. Then we made a trip to Gigi’s Cupcakes and then went to Target. Wild & crazy GNO, huh? :D

I got caught up on my coupons last week. I had papers piling up with coupons that needed to be clipped so I took care of those & cleaned out the expired coupons in my coupon box. It felt good to have it done. It was especially nice when I made my weekly grocery shopping trip. I did pretty good this last week. I spent $21 on all of this (I got the 10 cans of Red Gold tomatoes/sauce for free!)….
Shopping Trip

I finally broke out my fall d├ęcor (hey, post idea!). I didn’t go all out…just hints of fall here and there.

My mom is having back surgery this Friday (prayers appreciated). The doctor told her she’ll need to try not to lift anything for 4 months! She has been a huge help to me with the girls so I don’t know what I’m going to do. :(

My SOONERS won Saturday! They slaughtered Texas, WOOOHOOO!
